M1 customers can now enjoy a new Short Message Service (SMS) that has richer and more engaging contents.

With the new SMS2.0, breaking news, merchants’ offers and personalised information can be sent in real-time to phones.

Users can then click on any of the content at the bottom of the screen to find out more. They can also see images in colour and add free graphics for fun.

SMS2.0 currently works on some 20 Nokia phone models that are powered by Symbian software. To download SMS2.0, the customer just has to send ‘SMS2’ to 8887.

There is no charge for downloading and registration. Normal SMS charges apply.

To promote the new service, M1 is offering the Nokia 6121 pre-installed with SMS2.0 at $68.

Next month, customers who download SMS2.0 will get to enjoy one month of free surfing (up to 1MB).

M1 will also be pre-installing SMS2.0 into other Nokia models progressively.
