New Delhi, June 25th, 2013 – The face of the Indian Mobile market is changing, according to the latest network data released by Ripple, Affle’s cross screen rich media and video ad network. Ripple since its launch in India 9 months ago has been growing exponentially and already reaches out to over 65% of all mobile internet users in India.
Commenting on this, Sankalp Mehrotra, Executive Director, Ripple said “The last few quarters have been very exciting high growth times for the Ripple business. Our monthly ad requests in India have already crossed 9Bn with 35% of them coming from smartphones. Given the ease of surfing experience and a superior app environment on smart devices, these numbers are much higher than the market penetration of smartphones. When we started this business the smartphone share was much lower and it has grown dramatically in the past few months.”
In terms of content consumption, the largest contributing genres for Ripple have been Entertainment, Social Networking, Games and Sports. Another interesting trend from this data is related to the share by telecom carrier for all Ripple ad request traffic in India. Vodafone topped this list followed by airtel, Aircel & TATA DoCoMo. Amongst handsets the entry level smartphones continue to rule the roost given their affordable price points and superior experience.
Commenting on this Anuj Kumar, Co-founder & Managing Director, Ripple, said “India continues to be a big driver for our business in Asia and the exceptional growth rates seen by us in traffic and business here are very encouraging. It’s interesting to note that Smartphone % traffic share which we are seeing in India currently is at par with South East Asia % traffic shares for Ripple. This is a very healthy trend and supports our business well given that we have built significant technology innovations in the field of rich media and video advertising experiences which are best enjoyed on smart devices. Our Rich Media ad suite is already helping 100’s of advertisers create very impactful ad experiences. We expect solid market momentum coupled with our platform & sales efforts to help us grow this market exponentially in months to come”
Affle launched the Ripple ad network in August last year and the network has since then already announced key publisher alliances with Yahoo!, India Today, ESPN Cricinfo amongst many others. It counts leading advertisers like Unilever, Coca Cola, Samsung, Airtel, Microsoft, Yahoo!, HP, Maruti Suzuki & Hyundai as some the top advertisers on its network.
Ripple is Affle’s cross screen rich media and video ad network delivering integrated advertising solutions across all smart screens – Mobiles, Tablets, PC’s, Smart TV’s and more.
